Among the Roman roads, it is one of the most important historical roads that have survived and are worth seeing. The road, which is lined with limestone and continues for about 2 km, is located in the Sağlıklı Neighbourhood, 15 km from Tarsus, and is the center of attention for tourists. It has been accepted as the most important route in history connecting the Mediterranean to Central Anatolia, while it extends northward to the Taurus Mountains from the hills whose altitude does not exceed 200 meters. The road was most likely built in the 1st century AD and was used until about the mid 4th century AD. Rectangular limestone blocks on the remaining parts and a high pavement on both sides preventing cars from coming out were built. In fact, the curves that facilitate the vehicle exit by adapting to the topography and the areas left wider for the two cars to meet are interesting notes of the parts that remain intact. The Monumental Gate is located at the point of the road that can see the Tarsus Plain up to the sea, but the reason and date of its construction are unknown since the inscription of the building is not found.
