It is one of the oldest prayer places of Tarsus. Experts believe that they have findings indicating that the structure whose exact construction date is not known, is a church devoted to Saint Paul in Tarsus and constructed as Saint Paul Cathedral in 1102. It has Roman style thick and high walls, large interior, narrow and deep windows on façade and thick columns. It was started to be used as a mosque just after the Ramadanid Ahmet Bey captures Tarsus in 1415. The mihrab was constructed at the south gate, the final congregation section at north part and rooms are constructed at both sides of the absis, and later a minaret was added at the southwest corner of the mosque.
